Climate change threatens national security

Former general John Allen and Professor Victor rightly point out that climate change is a matter of national security. Because climate knows no boundaries it is a national security issue for all nations.

Climate change will make regions scarcer, leading to crop failure, water scarcity and sea-level rise. This will lead to more conflict and also more migration. According to a World Bank report climate change will create 143 million climate migrants. Yet the report is also optimistic; if we act in time the number of climate migrants can be greatly reduced!
